Quarter 4 Book Blogging

Acc. Lit. + Comp. / English 9
4th Quarter Independent Reading Goal +  Routine

During 4th quarter you will create and maintain a Book Blog instead of handwriting weekly journal paragraphs. After we analyze quality blog-writing and commenting, you will use your Google Account at Blogger.com to create your very own Book Blog.

Quarter 4 Book Blogging Expectations:
  • Create an attractive layout that symbolizes you as a reader/learner
  • Publish a total of 6 quality posts during 4th quarter (April 1 - June 1)
    • Your 1st blog post will explain your new 4th quarter reading goal
    • All other posts should each include a strong claim, the author, title, genre, and EVIDENCE and REASONING!
  • Include links/images/other online sources to embellish your blog-writing
  • Provide quality comments/discussion on your peers’ blogs

Possible Blog Post Topics
Think of a quality blog post like a weekly journal paragraph. Each post should always include a strong claim, the author, title, genre of the book, and EVIDENCE and REASONING!  For your total of 6 quality blog posts this quarter, you will have the freedom of choosing each post’s topic. Possible topics may include:

  • Describe how a possible theme is developing

  • Defend, clarity or challenge your book’s theme

  • Analyze author’s techniques

  • Analyze dramatic irony

  • What is your character’s secret fear?

  • How is your book a mirror to the real world?

  • Compare/contrast the book with another text (book/movie/article/etc.)

  • Write a book review or recommendation

  • Create a new beginning, ending or middle chapter for your book

  • How would your book be different if....

    • the character was of a different race/class/gender?

    • the author used a different point of view (1st, 2nd or 3rd)?

    • Used an unreliable narrator?

    • the setting took place in a different time period/location?

    • Retold in a different genre?

    • Create a topic of your very own!
